You don't need to work out the legal category yourself

Many problems touch more than one area of law. A property dispute might involve a family partition, and a business disagreement might lead to insolvency. Describe what happened and we'll work out who should help.

Questions

Quick answers

My builder has delayed possession of my flat. What can I do?

RERA gives home buyers a way to file a complaint with the state RERA authority. Depending on your agreement and the facts, you may be able to seek possession, interest for the delay or a refund. We can read your agreement with you and tell you which route makes sense.

Do I need to go to court to resolve my dispute?

Not always. Many disputes can be resolved through negotiation, mediation or arbitration. We will tell you honestly whether court is the right step for your situation.

Is what I tell you kept confidential?

Yes. What you share with your advocate about your legal matter is confidential. You can speak openly in your consultation.

What is the IBC?

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 is the law that sets out how companies that cannot pay their debts are dealt with. Cases involving companies are heard by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), with appeals to the NCLAT.

We are a startup. When should we speak to a lawyer?

Ideally before you sign founder agreements, take investment or enter a major contract. These documents are much easier to get right at the start than to fix later.

Should I register my brand name as a trademark?

If your brand matters to your business, registration makes it much easier to stop others using it. It is best to check availability and apply early.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us what's happening in your own words. We'll help you understand your options.
